Message After finally removing the fascia, for the first time, I got to take a good look at the ICs, how they are mounted, their ducts and the back of the grilled inlets. Unsure how the greddys will ever fit in there. The inlet spout is centered in the body of the IC making it fit 2 inches lower than the stock units. The ducts will miss the grill protrusion in back of the fascia as they are angled up to find the higher sitting stock ICs. The lower sitting Greddys also make contact with the plastic covers where venturis are riveted to.

I will have to tilt the IC faces backward in order to re-aim the ducts towards the grilles and open a hole to prevent the ICs from bulging out the lower covers, making the venturis less effective. The Greddys are actually shorter than the stock ICs and when mounted, do sit right in front of the grill openings, unlike the OEM units, where some of the face lies above the openining, needing a duct to redirect the air flow. This lower sitting position is perhaps the reason why nearly all used units I see for sale have bent lower crossplates.

I want to simplify this job as much as possible and would like to know, do I really need the ducts? Fitting and cutting those (the IC faces are are also more forward, making the ducts too long to fit in stock length) is gong to be a bear, mounting the fascia on and off numerous times until the fit is right. Leaving too much gap up front will diminsh the effectiveness of the ducts.
